1 Hurt in Car Bicycle Accident on Longport Boulevard

A 59-year-old Margate man sustained injuries when he bicycle was struck by a car Friday morning.

Egg Harbor Township Police say Edward Gerhardt was riding his bike on the westbound shoulder of Longport Boulevard, when he suddenly entered the lane of traffic, and was struck by a car driven by Mary Etta Hornbeck of Ventnor.

Gerhardt suffered what are being called moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The accident is still under investigation.
