Two women were injured when each of their cars overturned on the Garden State Parkway Thursday morning.

New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams said the cars, a green Oldsmobile and a gray Hyundai, went off the road just north of Route 72 in Stafford Township around 7:45 a.m.

The two women, age 30 and 24, were seriously injured and both taken by medical helicopter to to the trauma center at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, according to police.

They each were alone in their cars, according to Williams, who did not identify the women.

Two lanes remained closed for an investigation by State Police as of 11 a.m.
