A popular manufacturer of car seats has recalled more than 32,000 seats after learning that some children were able to loosen and detach the harness without adult assistance.

Evenflo announced the voluntary recall on its website. The company said the decision was made to recall some models of its Evolve Booster Seat in both the United States and Canada over concerns that some children "can access and activate the harness adjustment button" and possibly loosen the harness. This could pose a hazard to children in a crash situation, the company stated.

The company learned about the problem through customer feedback.

"While no injuries have occurred in connection with this issue, Evenflo identified a trend in complaints regarding use of the seat in harnessed mode through its regular review of consumer feedback," Evenflo said on its website.

According to Evenflo, the company is providing remedy kits, free of charge, to consumers who have purchased the Evolve 3-in-1 combination booster seats. The kits will prevent child access and activation of the harness adjustment button and includes a replacement harness adjustment button assembly along with instructions for installation.

The company said if parents find that their children are able to access the harness adjustment button without help, the seat should not be used until the remedy kit is installed.

If you think your car seat is affected and you need to order your remedy kit, go to evolve.evenflo.com or call 1-800-233-5921.
