A 4-year-old boy run over by his father's pickup in the driveway of his Egg Harbor Township home has died.

Family friend Alexandra Hennessey wrote on a GoFundMe page for the boy's family: "Dear Thomas received his angel wings a few days shy of his 5th birthday. Like most losses of young children, this was unseen. No one is ever prepared for such a blow."

Thomas Kinzer, 4, was riding a motorized toy tractor around the front yard of his Fernwood Avenue home on Tuesday morning as his father, also named Thomas Kinzer, 35, drove a pick up truck pulling a trailer from the back yard to the front, police have said.

The elder Kinzer told police did not see his son ride the tractor into his path and ran him over, which caused serious injury.

The Press of Atlantic City reported that Tuesday afternoon, a police officer returned to the family's home to collect documents from Kinzer’s truck. The report did not say why.

Police, announcing the incident Tuesday, did not say if the father would face any charges — only that the incident remained under investigation. Calls to police by Townsquare Media Wednesday have not yet been returned.
