Abducted Child Safe, One Person from West Virginia Arrested in Absecon
Absecon Police and detectives from the Atlantic City Police Department arrested a woman from West Virginia and safely recovered an abducted child at a hotel over the weekend.
Just before noon Sunday, detectives acted on information that an abducted child out of West Virginia was at the Holiday Inn Express on the White Horse Pike in Absecon. After the suspects initially refused to answer their hotel room door, several neighboring rooms were evacuated as a precaution. Police negotiated with the people in the room and they eventually were taken into custody without incident.
A female in the room, who's identity has not yet been released, was charged with being a fugitive from justice stemming from kidnapping charges out of West Virginia. She was taken to the county jail. A male occupant of the room was questioned and released with no criminal charges being filed. The child that was in the room was placed into emergency temporary custody by DYFS while arrangements are made for his return to his guardian.
