Although the beach is an unusual destination for a concert, Atlantic City officials said they are well prepared for the expected 200,000 guests to swarm the sand for country music stars over the coming days.

It takes a lot of collaboration and teamwork to put on an event as big as that of the Blake Shelton and Lady Antebellum concerts set for July 31 and Aug 3 on the beaches at Atlantic City. According to NBC 40, as soon as the engineers finish preparing the stage, the police, private security companies, and local and state agency crews triple-check their to-do lists before the masses arrive to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely.

The elaborate stage is set for Shelton, who will take the stage Thursday night at 6 p.m.; it will be semi-broken down for a weekend at the shore, only to be set again for Lady Antebellum who is scheduled to perform Sunday, Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. Both concerts are free and open to the public, although tickets have already been reserved for seats on the beach. Fans without tickets are encouraged to view the acts from the boardwalk.

The Press of Atlantic City reports that it will take about 7,000 man-hours of work to set up and clear out the stage. So, why host an event of this magnitude when it has a seemingly low yield profit margin? According to CBS Philly, the concerts are an attempt to "draw huge crowds of infrequent visitors to the resort city." Since many casinos are planning to close their doors, it is important to draw positive attention to a city that's currently seen in a negative light.

Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian also told CBS Philly, “We spent a lot of time and money on our boardwalk, our beaches, on our landscaping, lights, paving - so we’re saying come back and kick the tires you’re going to be happy what you see.”
