The City of Atlantic City has been awarded nearly $1 million to improve the look of Atlantic Avenue.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation has announced Atlantic City has been awarded a $996,000 grant to fund streetscape improvements along Atlantic Avenue. In a press release, Mayor Don Guardian said, “We are excited to have this funding so that we can continue to make aesthetic and safety improvements on Atlantic Avenue."

Plans for Atlantic Avenue include adding decorative LED lighting, more trees, new sidewalk pavers, bike racks, solar parking kiosks, benches, trash cans, and other enhancements. New signs may also be installed to point people towards points of interest.

Mayor Guardian went on to say, “These improvements will provide a framework of design elements that promote a safe, friendly, vibrant and inviting streetscape environment. These funds are critical in revitalizing the downtown and spurring economic growth in Atlantic City.”
