Around 8:30 Friday night, two officers observed 23-year-old Nazeer Sapp of Atlantic City riding his bike down the middle of Drexel Avenue. Cops say his bike did not have lights or reflectors, Sapp was wearing dark clothing making him a hazard, and he crossed North Carolina Avenue without stopping.

The officers ordered Sapp to stop his bike and he immediately sped away. Officers chased Sapp for several blocks before catching him in the 1000 block of Mediterranean Avenue. Sapp was placed in custody after initially resisting arrest and the officers recovered a loaded handgun from Sapp’s waistband.

Sapp is now facing several charges, including possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, obstruction, resisting arrest, and multiple traffic summonses. Sapp was released on a summons with a future court date.
