ATLANTIC CITY — After having too much to drink, police say, he got behind the wheel and fell into the drink.

Juan Crespo, 23, was charged with driving while intoxicated after he and a passenger survived his car's plunge into the bay at the end of Annapolis Avenue Friday morning.

Police said the two were able to get themselves out of the car through open windows before it became completely submerged around 6:30 a.m.

Crespo was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center where he was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. The passenger, whose identity was not disclosed by police, was treated at the scene and released.

The car was pulled out of the water by the Atlantic City Police Tow Unit.
