Cops say an investigation initiated by the Atlantic City Police Department’s Internal Affairs Section on Tuesday resulted in the arrest of 44-year-old Dayton Brown, an Atlantic City police officer, who lives in Galloway Township.

The ACPD Internal Affairs Section was notified by a resident that a woman had been assaulted by her boyfriend and was currently being treated at an area hospital. The caller identified the boyfriend as Brown. Detectives went to the hospital to interview the victim and learned the assault occurred in Galloway Township. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The Internal Affairs Section along with the Galloway Township Police Department conducted a joint investigation which led to the arrest of Brown. Brown has been suspended without pay and was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
