Jon Bon Jovi handed the check to Relief Fund Chair Mary Pat Christie during a ceremony yesterday in front of the Sayreville Borough Hall.

"My being here is not political, it's emotional, because I grew up here, I went to school here, I met my wife here," Bon Jovi told an overflow crowd. "I want to use this opportunity to thank all the people who have spent the long hours and countless days and months since Sandy helping their neighbors."

He also said his donation was really nothing more than a drop in the bucket.

"Coming together- that means you, me, us, we are taking a step today to rebuild lives," he said.

"Our Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund will be here for the long term - I promise you," Mary Pat Christie told the crowd, "So far, we've raised over $38 million, and this is what I love, from over 29,000 people."

"People from all over the world know that the people of New Jersey are hurting, and it's our job to remind them and we're going to continue to do that until everyone rebuilds."
