The Atlantic County SPCA is investigating a case of animal cruelty after a cat was found in an Atlantic City apartment building's trash compactor after apparently getting thrown into a 10th floor trash shoot.

NBC 10's Ted Greenberg reports that video from the Baltic Plaza Apartment High-Rise in Atlantic City from Sunday night shows a woman and a man allegedly throwing away multiple bags of trash, one bag which appears to show the cat’s hind legs sticking out.

Surveillance video of another trip to the trash chute seems to show the woman throw a litter box away.

The cat somehow survived the fall down the trash shoot and is now recovering.  The people seen in the video face animal cruelty charges and possible of jail time if convicted.
