Tuesday's debate against Gov. Chris Christie is one of them.

Polls show the Metuchen senator trailing the Republican governor by about 20 points.

She's further disadvantaged with significantly less money to spend in the home-stretch of the campaign.

Buono will be on the biggest stage of her 20-year legislative career when debating Christie. The one-hour showdown will be carried live by CBS TV stations Channel 2 in New York and Channel 3 in Philadelphia at 7 p.m.

Christie has more public speaking experience as a frequent campaigner for fellow Republicans and representative of the Republican Governors Association.

Buono is the former state Senate majority leader and chairwoman of its budget committee.
