It has been an interesting year for Christie, whose name stayed in the mix as a possible Presidential candidate for much of the early part of the year.He instead threw his support to Republican Mitt Romney and became one of his most vocal surrogates on the campaign trail before Hurricane Sandy struck New Jersey ending his appearances.

He also appeared on Oprah Winfrey's program and candidly discussed his weight.

Christie thrived in the national spotlight making a well-received speech at the Reagan Presidential Library and delivering the keynote address at the Republican National Convention. He also made an appearance on this past weekend's Saturday Night Live poking fun at the blue fleece pullover he wore daily during Sandy.

Also on the list: Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, Olympic gold medal gymnast Gabby Douglas, the British boy band One Direction, Academy-award winning actor/director/writer Ben Affleck, the 2013 Oscars host and creator of the cult classic, “Family Guy,” Seth MacFarlane, and one of the most famous authors in the world, EL James, the woman behind the steamy literary phenomenon, “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Walters will interview each person on the list during a special on Wednesday, December 12 and name her most fascinating person of the year during the show.
