Christie Votes Bill On Sandy Recovery Oversight

Gov. Chris Christie has vetoed a bill that would require more oversight of Sandy recovery funding in New Jersey.

Christie on Thursday said in the written explanation of his veto that his administration is already taking steps to make sure money is not wasted and the additional requirements called for by lawmakers would be redundant and wasteful.

Christie had already assigned an executive order to deal with oversight of recovery money and signed a bill requiring monitors.

The governor says the Legislature's plan to task the state Treasury Department with additional reporting requirements was unneeded.

Democratic state Sen. Barbara Buono, who is running for governor, says it's "incomprehensible" that the governor would veto the bill.
