Six people were rescued by the Coast Guard in two separate incidents Friday morning. Both occurred near Barnegat.

Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders were contacted at approximately 5:30 a.m. about a disabled sailboat 25 miles offshore from Barnegat Light. A crew responded and towed the sailboat and four-person crew ashore.

Three hours later, the Guard learned of a boat that ran aground in Oyster Creek. The passenger injured his head and was in need of medical assistance. Both men were medevaced to a Coast Guard station, where the patient's care was transferred to an ambulance crew.
