Despite scattered rain chances and a somewhat gusty start, the first half of this week will feature seasonable temperatures and pleasant mid-June weather.

As we kick off a new week here in the Garden State, our weather situation is looking fairly tranquil and quite pleasant. Having said that, there will be a couple of rain chances, with odds of wet weather especially increasing by the end of the workweek.

An area of low pressure is drifting off the east coast of Canada, as high pressure builds toward New Jersey from the west. The gradient in the middle has caused a period of gusty winds (combined with some HOT temperatures on Sunday!) We'll continue the wind through most (if not all) of Monday afternoon, with gusts topping out about 30 mph.

If you don't mind the wind, of course, Monday looks like a very nice day. Temperatures will be cooler than Sunday, but still mild in the mid to upper 70s (maybe a couple of 80-degree readings too). Low humidity will keep the air comfortable and skies should range between mostly sunny and partly sunny.

The NAM shows a weak system riding the wave through the atmosphere toward New Jersey Monday night. I put a stray sprinkle in the forecast, just in case. But my gut tells me this chance will fizzle before reaching the Garden State. It will remain somewhat breezy overnight and comfortably cool, as lows fall into the mid 50s.

The gorgeous weather continues for Tuesday, and we'll get to really enjoy it without the gusty wind! Forecast highs are around the 80 degree mark, and atmospheric humidity will remain comfortably low. The only hiccup in this forecast is the chance for a shower in South Jersey late Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening.

On Wednesday, a wind shift will open the door to warmer air, causing temperatures to bump into the lower to mid 80s for most of the state. Otherwise, it should be an uneventful day - certainly not a bad thing!

As winds shift again to a northeasterly direction on Thursday and Friday, we'll cool back down to the 70s. The cooldown will be especially notable along the Jersey Shore, which always feels the strongest effects of an on-shore flow as cooler ocean air blows toward the beaches. In addition, a couple of light rain chances enter the forecast - a chance of showers on Thursday afternoon, and the potential for a brief pocket of steadier rain on Friday morning. It is wholly possible that part of the state (especially north and west) stays dry through the entire workweek.

The forecast for upcoming Father's Day weekend is still up in the air for now, as the GFS shows dry weather and the Euro indicates a blip of precipitation. Stay tuned.
