The Absecon Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the individual that posed as a police officer and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Absecon Blvd and Turner Ave on January 7, 2013, at approximately 10:45 PM.

According to a press release from the Absecon Police Department, the victim, a 24 year old female from Brigantine advised police she was heading back to Brigantine Monday night on Absecon Blvd. when the suspect, described as a white male wearing a uniform, stopped her vehicle. The suspect advised the victim that he was working a detail in the area and requested to search the victim’s car. The victim, not realizing the suspect was posing as a police officer, allowed him to do so. After the suspect searched her vehicle he left the area on Absecon Blvd. The victim was unable to provide any details on the suspect vehicle except that it was a car and not an SUV and the accused had a dash board emergency light.

The victim described the accused as a white male approximately 6 foot tall with a skinny build. He had blonde hair and brown eyes and he was clean shaven. He was wearing a navy blue shirt that appeared to be a police officer’s uniform shirt. The victim was able to give a detailed description and police were able to compile a composite sketch of the suspect.
