New Jersey is under the gun for possible strong thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center has most of New Jersey at risk for thunderstorms as the day goes on and temperatures and humidity rise during the day.

"It's a similar story to one that played out three times last week, with strong to severe storms expected to arrive in the afternoon to early evening hours. Damaging winds and hail will be the primary concerns," WPG Chief Meteorologist Dan Zarrow said. The SPC said it cannot rule out the possibility of an isolated tornado as well.

A line of storms that moved across New Jersey during the week knocked out power to around 40,000 customers, brought down trees and tore the roofs off an apartment building in Atlantic City and at Camden County College in Blackwood. The National Weather Service reported wind gusts of 72 mph at Upper Deerfield in Cumberland County and 66 mph at Harvey Cedars on Long Beach Island. Twenty trees were knocked down in a Haddon Heights park and newly planted trees in Asbury Park were also brought down.
