Online retailers are promising great deals today during what has been the biggest online shopping day of the year since 2010.  CNN reports Walmart will offer 200 deals daily on its website while Amazon has a new deal every 10 minutes.

Other deals being offered include a Canon Powershot A3500 16MP digital camera on Target's website for $99, a 46-inch Samsung LED TV for $478 on the Walmart website, a HTC One 32GB smartphone for just 1 cent (it's normally $199) with a two-year contract from AT&T, Verizon or Sprint (Amazon) and 50% off select coats from Kenneth Cole, Calvin Klein, DKNY and London Fog plus free shipping on online purchases of $75 or more.

The concept, first started in 2005, is already outdated. The idea was to get shoppers to go online to make purchases from work where there was a faster internet connection. Eight years later, 70% of Americans have high-speed internet in their homes and can also buy from the palm of their hand with a mobile device or a tablet.

Careful Shopping

Shoppers are warned to be careful of scams that will also show up to take advantage of the zeal to shop quickly to get the best deals. Digital Trends.com advises to make sure your browsers, operating systems and software are all updated and to ignore pop-ups and special emails that arrive in your in-box with an attachment as they may be actually be a virus.

Shop only on a secure site that has "https" in its URL and to protect yourself and your bank account by making payment with a credit card, not a debit card.t
