In a statement issued to WPVI TV, one of the Philadelphia television stations where he has worked, Tollefson acknowledged the investigations, blaming "financial challenges" for not coming through what was promised.

"I am currently receiving treatment at an inpatient facility. After I am discharged, I will fully address all of the above issues," wrote Tollefson. "I am truly sorry for any inconvenience and anxiety caused by these circumstances. Please respect my family's privacy while I resolve these issues."

Tollefson's lawyer would not elaborate on the reason for his treatment or the facility where he was a patient.

Warminster, Pennsylvania Police began an investigation into several complaints made about prizes not delivered and questions about whether or not the money actually went to a charity. The Bucks County District Attorney's office has gotten involved with the investigation and says Tollefson, who has also worked for Fox Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Eagles, could face charges of theft by taking.

Tollefson's close friend Bill Osborn told WPVI that he also didn't receive tickets he had paid for and says he became worried that "he just wasn't acting like himself." Osborn says Tollefson was involved in a major car accident that nearly took his life. "I know if that hadn't happened, this probably wouldn't have happened," Osborn said, adding that he is being patient with his friend.

Don Tollefson's Statement

In recent months, the programs I have conducted for disadvantaged children have encountered financial challenges. As a result, we have needed to cancel trips and other prize packages and for that I greatly apologize to our generous donors who have taken such a great interest in these wonderful children. In the coming months, we hope to fulfill our obligations, resume our programs and make things right for our donors. I am currently receiving treatment at an inpatient facility. After I am discharged, I will fully address all of the above issues. I am truly sorry for any inconvenience and anxiety caused by these circumstances. Please respect my family's privacy while I resolve these issues.
