EHT Man Facing Gun Charges After Threatening His Girlfriend

In the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday morning, EHT Police arrested a man after he allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a gun.

Just before 3AM Tuesday, police responded to a home on Rhodes Avenue in reference to threats involving a gun. Upon arrival, police made contact with the victim, Shakeria Gilliard, who said her boyfriend pointed a handgun and threatened her after a brief dispute in the home.

The suspect, 22-year-old Jonathan Smith of Egg Harbor Township, was located and taken into custody after a short investigation at the scene. The weapon was recovered.

Smith was charged with possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, terroristic threats, criminal restraint, and aggravated assault. Bail was set at $50,000 and Smith was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
