Two Egg Harbor Township men qualify for this week's dumb criminals award after returning to the scene of one crime, only to be charged with several others.

According to Shore News Today, Michael Searle and Josh Cooper, both 20, fled the scene of a hit-and-run accident on Sunday, September 4, on Bargaintown's Hidden Oak Road then decided to return to the scene of the accident.

The problem for our not-ready-for prime-crime criminals is that the police had also responded to the accident scene. The cops were watching as Searle pulled up in the suspected hit-and-run car, now with front-end damage and one tire flat and down to the rim.

Searle was arrested for DUI and Cooper for a standing NCIS warrant.

While officers were investigating the pair's vehicle they found what appeared to be items taken from recent vehicle burglaries, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia

Both men were charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, burglary, theft and conspiracy. Searle is also facing drinking and driving charges.
