Galloway Woman Shot to Death at Birthday Party

A Galloway Township woman was shot and killed Saturday night while attending a birthday party in Riverside, Burlington County.

According to NJ.com, Riverside, Burlington County "Police responded to an apartment in the 200 block of Hooker Street shortly before 11 p.m. for a report of a man with a gun, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office".

Police say Darren Winningham, 42, shot Nikita Cross, 35, of Galloway Township in the chest after several people gathered at the apartment for a "social event."

Winningham lives at the residence where the shooting occurred.

Cross was taken to Lourdes Medical Center in Willingboro, where she was pronounced dead.

Winningham was taken into custody without incident, charged and placed in Burlington County Jail on $500,000 bail, NJ.com reported.

He is scheduled to make his first court appearance Monday afternoon.
