GOP Lawmaker ‘F***ing’ Flips Out at NJ Cops Who Search Her Car for Weed

MOUNT LAUREL — Don't you know who I am?

A Burlington County lawmaker reminded cops at least three times that she was "a sitting assemblywoman" and called them "f***ing a**holes" after they suspected her smoking marijuana and driving intoxicated in a car crash in April.

"I got rear-ended and you guys are treating me like I'm the f***ing a**hole," Assemblywoman Maria Rodriguez-Gregg tells officers, who don't seem to realize she's a state official.

"You’re dealing with a sitting assemblywoman. Everyone’s going to hear about this sh--."

The exchange was caught on the police officers' bodycams. A copy of the footage was obtained by The Trentonian, which published the video Friday.

Rodriguez-Gregg, 35, who was rear-ended by an out-of-state resident, was charged with driving while intoxicated and obstruction. Police, however, found no marijuana in the car.

Last month, she announced that she would not seek re-election. She said that her arrest was not the reason behind her decision.

In 2014, Rodriguez-Gregg became the first Latina elected as a Republican to the state legislature. She's also known for playing roller derby.

In the video, officers are heard telling each other that they had detected the odor of marijuana coming from Rodriguez-Gregg's car.

Already agitated at the other driver as a result of the accident, Rodriguez-Gregg becomes incensed at the officer who asks her about the weed smell.

"Oh my God. There’s no marijuana in my car. I smoked cigars earlier [..] in Morristown. But there’s no marijuana," she tells him, agreeing to a search of her, which she retracts moments later.

"Are you serious right now? I’m a sitting assemblywoman. Do you think I'm f***ing smoking cigars — oh, I’m sorry – smoking marijuana at this time of night? I’m calling my lawyer," she tells the officer. "Is that what they said? These people who f***ing rear-ended me?"

"Not at all," the cop replies.

"That's bull****!"

The lawmaker grows angrier after an officer asks her to get out of her car and asks her if she had "anything to drink tonight."

"I’m being harassed by the police," she says during a tirade in the middle of the road while speaking to someone on her phone who she says is her lawyer. "I have done nothing but support the police. I have been your No. 1 supporter politically. F***ing assholes!"

Rodriguez-Gregg's attorney told The Trentonian that police overreacted and said that no marijuana was detected in her system. The attorney told the newspaper that she did have alcohol in her system, but that the amount was "borderline."
