Gov. Christie Says Sick Leave Payouts Must End [AUDIO]

Earlier this year Gov. Chris Christie was on a rampage about sick leave payouts, calling on lawmakers to pass a measure that would terminate the practice, but lately, Christie has been silent on the matter.

Don't expect that to last very long.

During an event in South River, Christie said with the Legislature on summer break, "There comes a point when even I have to stop banging my head against the wall."

However, Christie pointed out the issue must be addressed.

"You've had multi-million dollar payouts in municipality after municipality, that come from the pockets of the people sitting here and others around the state. What I've said, and the proposal I've put forward, and I will not compromise on this, is zero means zero."

Christie stressed he doesn't want people who are sick coming to work.

"But that doesn't mean that at the end of your career you should get some six figure payout because you were fortunate enough not to miss work because you were sick," Christie said.

Christie promised he'll continue to talk about the issue during the upcoming Gubernatorial campaign.
