Early Friday morning, Hamilton Township police conducted a motor vehicle stop and arrested a driver on numerous charges, including possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

According to a press release, a Hamilton Township police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on a suspected drunk driver. During the stop, it was discovered that the driver, Fuquan Gilliard of Mays Landing, had an outstanding traffic warrant. While being taking Gilliard into custody, the officer noticed a loaded handgun and over 4 ounces of heroin on the floor in Gilliard's vehicle. The gun was subsequently found to have been stolen.

Gilliard was charged with the following: possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, heroin distribution, possession of a weapon while commiting CDS distribution, possession a stolen firearm, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, driving while intoxicated, contempt of court and multiple motor vehicle violations.

Gilliard was lodged in the Atlantic County Jail on $100,000.00 bail.
