TRENTON — South Jersey got the worst of the summer nor'easter-type storm that ended Saturday morning.

WPG chief meteorologist Dan Zarrow said the storm tracked slightly to the south sparing most of the state the heaviest rain. Most areas south of Route 195 received 2-4 inches of rain although a there were some spots in Cape May and Atlantic counties receiving 6 inches of rain.

The clouds will start to break up over the state during the afternoon with South Jersey the last to clear, according to Zarrow.

High standing water closed one to two lanes on Route 47 (Delsea Drive) in Wildwood and Route 322 in Hamilton (Atlantic County). Route 30 in Egg Harbor City also flooded.

A Flash Flood Watch was in effect for counties south of Route 195 for possible additional minor flooding.

"The next two high tide cycles in South Jersey just after noon and just after midnight will be a bit high, with about a foot of surge," Zarrow said.

Only a handful of power outages were reported by Atlantic City Electric, PSE&G and JCP&L as of 8:30 a..m on Saturday.

High winds forced the cancellation of Saturday morning's balloon ascension at the Quick Chek Festival of Ballooning in Readington. According to their Facebook page, all other festival events and activities on Saturday will go on as scheduled.
