A multi-alarm fire broke out at the historic Hillcrest Tavern in Bridgeton Monday morning.

The Vineland Fire Deptartment and Office of Emergency Management said the fire on Broad Street was up to two alarms at 6:15 a.m., with the fire being attacked from above. High winds fanned the flames and affected firefighters ability to quickly put out the fire reported Philly.com.

 

Broad Street (Route 49) was closed in both directions at Fayette Street because of the blaze.

According to the Cumberland County website the building was built in 1782.
