The decades-long king of late night television is returning to his rightful spot in 2016.

David Letterman just retired, Jimmy Fallon took over The Tonight Show just a couple years ago, Stephen Colbert is getting ready to launch his new nighttime show -- and now Johnny Carson is returning to TV.

Variety reports Antenna TV has secured the rights to air hundreds of episodes of The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson that originally aired between 1972 and 1992 (the first 10 years of Carson’s “Tonight Show” are long gone).

The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson returns to TV on January 1st at 11PM. Antenna TV can be seen locally on Comcast channel 252, FiOS channel 463, or over the air on WPHL-TV channel 17.2.
