Scattered showers are expected to push through part of the Garden State all day Tuesday, but the dreary, damp, cooler weather is only temporary this time.

Here are your weather headlines for Tuesday, May 10, 2016...

Temporary Return to Damp Weather

If you didn't mind the gusty wind and the widely scattered showers, Monday turned into a nice day across the Garden State. Widespread 70s were a wonderful sight after such a "blah" start to May.

We're back to the "blah" for Tuesday, as clouds and raindrops once again overtake the skies of New Jersey. A band of persistent light rain will move into the Garden State Tuesday morning, mostly affecting central and southern New Jersey. North Jersey may very well stay completely dry on Tuesday, with a few breaks of sun possible.

Luckily, this round of wet weather will be temporary and the rain is expected to remain very light. I'd be surprised if rainfall totals reach even a quarter-inch. The vast majority of the raindrops will fall between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday.

High temperatures will be held at bay due to the clouds and the rain, limited to the lower 60s for most of the state. Not terrible, but noticable.

The Sun Shines Again

By Wednesday morning, skies should begin to clear across New Jersey and we should see some golden sunshine by Wednesday afternoon. That will help high temperatures return to the seasonable lower 70s. With light winds and dry weather anticipated, it should be a very nice May day.

Thursday looks great too! Look for mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower to mid 70s.

A Peek at the Weekend

A few changes enter the forecast for Friday, as clouds subtly increase. That's ahead of our next storm system which will bring our next chance of rain starting around 4 p.m. Friday. Given the very warm temperatures in the mid 70s, our atmosphere is expected to become rather unstable. That's enough to warrant a chance for strong to severe thunderstorms.

For the weekend ahead, we should hold on to 70s for Saturday, although I can't rule out an isolated late-day shower. Sunday turns windier and cooler, with highs in the 60s. However, we should enjoy sunshine on Sunday too.
