A music teacher at Belhaven Middle School in Linwood has been suspended with pay after an allegation of an assault on a student. 

Kim Peschi, 40, is accused of kicking the chair out from under a student from behind, causing the student to hit his head on the floor, according to a police brief obtained by The Press of Atlantic City.

As the director of the Belhaven school chorus, Kim Peschi has been to the Townsquare Media/Atlantic City studios many times with students singing Christmas carols. She has worked for the Linwood school district since 1999.

According to The Press report, police say there was an eyewitness and video of the February 9 indecent. Peschi has been charged with cruelty and neglect of children and simple assault. She has been suspended with pay from her position since February 15.
