Just before 11:30 Tuesday morning, officers attempted to stop 32-year-old Robert Hart of Pleasantville in the 1300 block of Mediterranean Avenue in reference to a narcotic investigation, according to a press release. When the officers attempted to stop Hart, he immediately fled on foot.

Cops say while he was running, Hart was struggling with an object in his waistband which is a common location that individuals conceal handguns. One officer, armed with a conducted energy device (i.e. Taser), ordered Hart to stop running and get on the ground; Hart refused to comply and the officer Tasered him. Hart attempted to discard heroin and cocaine that he retrieved from his pants. He was taken into custody and the narcotics were recovered.

Hart was charged with obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, and two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin and cocaine) and was released on a summons and provided with a future court date.
