A Pleasantville man who was arrested for a robbery in Atlantic City Sunday night was charged with robbery -- again -- while he was in custody.

Atlantic City Police say at around 9:00 Sunday night, a 30-year-old woman from Barnegat told officers she had been assaulted by a man earlier that night. In that event, the woman said she was walking near Iowa and Pacific Avenues when she was pushed to the ground and kicked. The suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Actula Cross of Pleasantville, stole a diamond ring and cash and then fled the area.

While the woman was describing the suspect to an ACPD detective, he realized she was describing Cross who had just been arrested for theft in another incident.

That incident happened around 8:00 when a 19-year-old man from East Orange had money stolen out of his pocket at Iowa and Pacific. The victim in this crime chased the suspect and he was detained by security officers at Tropicana.

Cross, who had outstanding warrants, was charged with robbery, two counts of theft, and simple assault.
