Friday evening, Atlantic City Police responded to a home on the 1200 block of Arctic Avenue after receiving a call about a man with two machetes who was threatening to stab someone and was holding two family members.

When officers arrived and confronted 23-year-old Jonathan Quintana of Atlantic City, he was holding a large knife. According to a press release, officers gave him numerous verbal commands to drop his knife. One officer who was armed with a taser was able to use just the sight of his taser to get Quintana to drop his knife and he was safely taken into custody.

An investigation found that Quintana had thrown knives at a female victim and stabbed and slashed the victim’s property with a knife.

Quintana was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and criminal mischief and is being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $50,000 bail.
