The Marine Mammal Stranding Center of Brigantine is urging shore residents and visitors to scan the beach for frozen sea turtles.

They're asking for you to be diligent if you're someone who frequents the beach, even in the blistery weather that we've been enduring lately. If you come across a sea turtle that appears to be frozen, don't assume it's dead -- call the Marine Mammal Stranding Center to report it.

Basically, turtles are stunned from the cold since they're most comfortable in temperatures between 75 to 85 degrees.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine can be reached by calling (609) 266-0538.
