EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP - A Mays Landing woman, severely injured after being catapulted out of her SUV in a head-on crash, also faces a rash of road violation summonses and possibly criminal counts.

Krystal Maxwell-Horne, 27, was flown to Atlanticare Regional Trauma Center's Atlantic City trauma unit in the aftermath of the Tuesday night collision on Ocean Heights Avenue, in the Cardiff section.

Police rushed to the spot on the Hamilton Township border at about 7:59 PM. According to investigators, Maxwell-Horne was eastbound, in the westbound lane, in a 1999 Ford Ranger. Osvaldo Artis, 30, of Millville, was westbound.

The crash occurred on the curve at Miry Run, and Maxwell-Horne sustained multiple traumatic injuries, police said.

She was issued summonses for driving while impaired, driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain a lane, and failure to wear a seat belt.

Police offered no details regarding Artis's condition, but added that the investigation continues to determine if criminal charges apply.

The Cardiff and Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Companies responded, along with the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad, Hamilton Township police and ambulance team, and Atlanticare Paramedics.

Investigations continue under the auspices of EHTPD Officers Patrick Daly, Louis Poletis, and Joseph Griffiths.
