Numbers Drawn for Mega Millions Jackpot Worth $309 Million

The numbers for Tuesday's Mega Millions with a jackpot worth at least $309 million have been drawn.

Those numbers were: 9, 14, 56, 57, 69 and the Mega Ball, 10. The Megaplier was 4. No one matched all five numbers and the Mega Ball, so the jackpot for Friday's drawing will grow to an estimated $353 million.

The multi-state jackpot has not had a winner since Jan. 3 when one winning ticket was sold for $61 million in Tennessee. Prior to that drawing, a jackpot with an annuity value of $636 million had two winning tickets sold in California and Georgia.

Tuesday's jackpot is the ninth largest jackpot offered by the multi-state lottery and will have a $169 million cash option.

Players have a 1 in 258,890,850 chance of hitting all five numbers and the gold Mega Ball to claim the jackpot but New Jersey was a very lucky state in 2013 for jackpot winners in the Powerball and Mega Millions games.

Two of three winning Powerball tickets for a $411 million jackpot in August were sold to the “Ocean’s 16″ group of Ocean County employees who pooled their money to purchase a ticket and Mario Scarnici of Monmouth Junction. Pedro Quezada of Passaic won a $338 million Powerball jackpot in March.

Mega Millions made several rule changes in late 2012 to allow for higher, faster growing jackpots without raising the ticket price. The changes were also aimed at giving more players the opportunity to win prizes.
