A 31-year-old North Wildwood man apparently got the word of someone accumulating a large amount of money, so he was determined to get his share with help from his gun.

Police in Middle Township say Joseph Macklin forced his way into a residence on Bucknell Avenue in the Del Haven section of Middle Township early Wednesday morning. They say Macklin held a woman and her 3-year-old daughter at gunpoint, demanding money.

Macklin fled the scene with various items taken from the residence, and was ultimately arrested in North Wildwood without incident by members of the department’s Street Crimes Unit.   No injuries occurred to the victim or her daughter.

Macklin is facing numerous charges and is being held in the Cape May County Jail. Bond is set at $300,000.

Police are asking anyone with information on the case to call Detective Dan Martin of the Department’s Major Crimes Unit at 609-465-8700.
