Police say a Reeds Beach resident reported being chased by a fox while on Reeds Beach Road on Tuesday. Officers responded to the area but were not able to find the animal. Area residents have reported seeing the fox and they believe it has rabies.

Officials say symptoms of rabies include, but are not limited to, stumbling or wobbly movement, overly friendly behavior, lethargy, paralysis, extreme aggression or excess salivation, and seeing a normally nocturnal animal active during daylight hours. If you should see an animal exhibiting these symptoms, you are asked to call Middle Township Animal Control at (609) 465-8700.
