More Showers, More Clouds, and More Cool Temps
Although heavy rain is not expected, more raindrops are expected for both Wednesday and Thursday, as highs are limited to the cool 60s.
Here are your weather headlines for Wednesday, June 3, 2015...
A Cool, Wet Wednesday
It was so cool this morning that I could see my breath... What gives, Mother Nature?! It's June!
Yes, New Jersey's wet and unseasonably cool weather will continue for a couple more days. Today's rain should be limited to showers, sprinkles, and/or drizzle - certainly nothing heavy, and no flooding or severe weather risks today. In fact, the rain should even take a break this afternoon, and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see some thinning of the clouds too. I hesitate to suggest sun and/or blue skies might shine through, but any break in the thick cloud cover and the dreary, damp weather would be welcome.
Meanwhile, the combination of rain, clouds, and cool air will keep temperatures at bay once again this afternoon. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s this afternoon. In case you're keeping score at home, that's about 10° warmer than yesterday but still about 10° cooler than normal.
A Cool, Wet Thursday
Another round of showers will move through New Jersey, as a storm system moves mostly off-shore past New Jersey. Thursday's rain looks to be a bit more widespread and a bit heavier than today's showers and sprinkles. Skies will remain mostly cloudy to overcast and temperatures will stay cool, again in the mid to upper 60s.
Improvements by the Weekend
Finally, a pattern change will kick in Friday that will start clearing our skies and warming our temperatures to close out the workweek. The breaks of sunshine will cause temperatures to rise rapidly on Friday, into the comfortable mid 70s.
This weekend is looking mostly good and mostly dry. A cold front will drag through the state early Saturday morning, which could spark a few light showers in the 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. time frame. The cool air won't really settle over us during the day Saturday, so temperatures should warm to almost 80° under partly sunny skies. Sunday will be a bit cooler, but high temperatures will still be in the comfortable 70s. And, since the front will deliver drier air, sun should dominate for the second half of the weekend as well.
