Mother Accidentally Backs-Up Over Infant in Egg Harbor Township

Egg Harbor Township police are investigating an accident Tuesday afternoon where a mother accidentally hit a young child with her car.

The incident happened around 1:00 Tuesday afternoon on Flatbush Avenue. Authorities say the 14-month-old child's mother was backing-up and hit the child when the toddler ran into the path of the vehicle. The child was trapped under the car and neighbors lifted it up to free the toddler.

The child was treated at the scene by the Egg Harbor Township Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare paramedics then airlifted to Cooper Hospital in Camden with moderate injuries.
