State Police say five people were shot, one fatally, in Egg Harbor Township Monday afternoon.

UPDATE - 6:09PM: The Associated Press reports police received reports of a shooting on the Atlantic City Expressway Monday afternoon, followed by calls for medical assistance a few miles away on the Garden State Parkway and at a convenience store.

UPDATE - 5:30PM:  Five people were shot during a gun battle involving three vehicles this afternoon in Egg Harbor Township, according to New Jersey State Police. State Police Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams says one person was found dead on the Garden State Parkway at northbound mile marker 37.9. Police are searching for a black Dodge Ram with a temporary Pennsylvania registration.

UPDATE - 4:53PM: New Jersey State Police are reporting 5 shooting victims, 1 person reported dead.

The incident(s) all started to unfold around 3:00 Monday afternoon when a white SUV riddled with bullet holes made its way to the parking lot of the Wawa store located at the Airport Circle in Egg Harbor Township. It appears the shooting happened somewhere in the vicinity of the convenience store and the victims stopped there seeking help. Reports from various media outlets say anywhere from two to four people with gunshot wounds were taken from the SUV to area hospitals.

While this scene is unfolding, New Jersey State Police are on the northbound side of the Garden State Parkway around Exit 38, near Delilah Road, with what has been described as an injured person, possibly another shooting victim.

It is not yet known if the incident at the EHT Wawa and the Garden State Parkway are connected.
