BRICK — A smart little girl is being praised for her quick thinking when her mom fell ill.

The 3-year-old girl dialed 911 on her mother's cell phone in early February and reached the Monmouth County Sheriff's Department dispatch, telling dispatcher Richard Incremona "my mommy is sick."

The girl told the operator that she couldn't wake up her mother and needed help.  Incremona, a four-year veteran operator, talked to the girl in a calm fashion in a way she could relate to, telling her that "friends" would be on the way. He traced the call to the Kentwood Apartments and notified Brick police dispatcher Kimberly Greenspan.

But an officer who was sent to the apartment on Van Zile Road discovered the mother and child were not there.

Greenspan then was able to get the girl to tell her actual address and then instruct her on unlocking the door and let police inside.

The mother was hospitalized and has since recovered. Authorities did not release the names of the mother and child or what the mother was suffering from.
