Abundant sunshine, low humidity, and near-normal temperatures will make for some very nice weather through the end of the week.

Here are your weather headlines for Thursday, August 13, 2015...

Very Nice Weather

No complaints about our forecast for today and tonight! Mostly sunny skies, low humidity, and seasonably warm temperatures will make for near-perfect weather today and tomorrow. Highs today will range from about 80° to 85°.

The clear and quiet weather continues tonight, alongside comfortably cool low temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s. It should be an excellent viewing opportunity for the final night of the Perseid meteor shower, If you can find a piece of the sky devoid of light pollution and clouds.

On Friday, Mother Nature might add some extra clouds to our sky by the afternoon. Meanwhile, temperatures will be a bit warmer, between about 84° and 89°.

Weekend Rain Chance?

Nothing makes me more nervous than forecasting rain over a summer weekend! So many outdoor activities hinge on whether or not raindrops fall, so I always pay extra attention and try to give you the most honest and accurate forecast I can. Bottom line? Yes, there is a chance for rain this weekend. Hopefully it will not have a huge impact on your weekend.

In previous day's weather blog posts, I made mention of some isolated showers for Friday evening into Friday night. I'm now feeling comfortable enough to take these showers out of the forecast, keeping Friday night through early Saturday morning dry. Could we still see a sprinkle? Sure. But the forecast is definitely trending toward a dry night.

Saturday evening is a different story, as a weak front will be pushing through New Jersey. Moisture will be limited, and modeled rainfall is also limited... but I think a few showers are apt to popup between about 5 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday morning. The best chance for raindrops will be northwestern New Jersey, while the rain chances along the Jersey Shore and in South Jersey will be very low (but not zero). Although there could be a rumble of thunder, any rain that falls should be light.

Our next chance of rain comes late Monday into Tuesday, in the form of scattered showers and thunderstorms. But forecast precipitation amounts are currently pretty low, so Tuesday does not look like a washout.

Return of Heat & Humidity

We will embark upon a slow warming trend as the weekend approaches. Lower to mid 80s today... mid to upper 80s Friday... Upper 80s to lower 90s for Saturday, Sunday, and beyond.

Yes, 90+ degree temperatures are in the forecast. And yes, we could very well see 3+ consecutive days of those 90+ degree temperatures. Here comes another heat wave, although the heat still doesn't look to be "extreme" with the highest high temperatures through early next week limited to about 94°.

Additionally, low-level moisture is expected to increase a bit this weekend... that means it will feel more humid/muggy by Sunday and Monday. The current dew point numbers aren't really "oppressive" - but a noticeable increase in mugginess and stickiness is expected. This is amongst the near 90° temperatures, of course. Yup, it's definitely still summertime in New Jersey.

Want some relief from the heat? Head to the Jersey Shore, where temperatures will be at least 10° cooler than inland areas.
