An investigation by Middle Township Police has resulted in nine people, mostly juveniles, being arrested for vandalizing a local park.

Back on August 27th, Middle Township Police discovered a group of people had spray painted racial slurs and profanity on the track and buildings in the Memorial Field park complex. Video surveillance at the field helped officers identify nine suspects, eight of which are juveniles.

Yesterday, all of the suspects were charged with criminal mischief, criminal trespass, and harassment. The juveniles range in age from 15 to 17 years old. Six are from Lower Township and two are from Pennsylvania. The one adult is 18-year-old William Boucher of North Cape May.

The track sustained damage and may need to be replaced at a cost of about $100,000. If convicted, those involved may be required to pay for the damage and perform community service.
