The main culprits of Monday's nor'easter in New Jersey, rain and gusty winds, are still present as Tuesday morning rolls along, but will lessen considerably before skies clear Tuesday evening and for the next couple of days.

Rain showers are still likely Tuesday, with winds 15 to 25 mph, possibly gusting to 40 mph. That's a bit breezy, but not nearly as treacherous as what the Garden State was subjected to on Monday. Highs will range from the upper 30s to lower 40s, and those winds will diminish late in the day.

One trouble spot to watch out for, and there's already been some slushy weather reported there, is the northwest part of the state, specifically north and west of I-287 and north of I-80. Precipitation could continue to be mixed there, but as temperatures get above the freezing mark, that of course will become less and less likely.

Winds do remain at about 10 to 15 mph overnight, but by evening hours on Tuesday we'll see skies clearing to partly cloudy. Lows will dip down into the mid-30s, even teetering toward freezing, but it's a precursor to a considerable warmup on Wednesday.

For Wednesday, lots of sunshine is expected, and high temperatures will climb into the 50s, perhaps even approaching 55 in some areas. That's short-lived, though; as a couple of clouds creep into the picture on Thursday, highs will come back down to the 40s, and with even more clouds (no rain as of now) on Friday, temps will be even a little bit cooler than that.
