‘NJ Weedman’ Lights Up at Trenton Council Meeting to Protest ‘Cowards’ [VIDEO]
Surrounded by fellow supporters of the legalization of marijuana, Ed "NJ Weedman" Forchion smoked a joint right in front of Trenton's city council members Thursday night.
No one was arrested, but there was a police presence, Forchion said.
The demonstration took place after council members refused to vote on a resolution that would call for the statewide legalization of marijuana.
Councilwoman Marge Caldwell-Wilson made a motion to vote on the matter, but the other members of the governing body stayed silent, Forchion said. After another round of silence, when Caldwell-Wilson moved to have the matter postponed to another date, the councilwoman walked out of the chambers.
"They couldn't even say, 'no,'" Forchion told Townsquare Media following the meeting. "They were cowards."
Later, as seen in the video above, Forchion proceeded to smoke a joint in front of the council members who remained. Once officials and council members realized what was happening, Forchion and his supporters were escorted outside.
