Actor Erik Estrada, "Ponch" from the 70's TV show CHiPS, has signed on for double duty April 14 in Ocean City, as grand marshal for the 2018 Doo Dah Parade and as master of ceremonies for the Mr. Mature America Pageant later that night.

Estrada starred as highway patrol officer Frank Poncherello during his six-year run on the TV series "CHiPs." He has also appeared in numerous other television and movie roles.

"His talent and charm will be a perfect fit for Ocean City’s pageant, which mixes self-deprecating humor with nostalgia and talent in a tribute to men ages 55 and older," according to Ocean City public information officer Doug Bergen.

The parade — Ocean City’s annual tribute to humor — marks the opening of an uninterrupted season of specials events that stretches throughout  the year.

This year’s event starts at noon Saturday, April 14. The parade route starts at Sixth Street and travels downtown Asbury Avenue to 12th Street, then turns to the Boardwalk at 12th Street and (new this year) finishes on the boardwalk at Fifth Street.
