An explosion at an industrial plant in Gloucester City around 1AM Tuesday rocked the neighborhood and caused a massive fire.

It happened at asphalt mixing company Blueknight Energy Partners, located along Water St. near the Delaware River.

Video below, posted by CBSPhilly.com, shows the intensity of flames after the blast.

The resulting blaze took firefighters three hours to get under control, according to Patch.com.

Smoke from the fire could reportedly be seen from across area bridges into South Philadelphia. Several residents, who awoke to a loud bang, had to be evacuated and moved away from potentially hazardous fumes.

An investigation into what caused the tanker to explode is underway.
